Fundraising and Program Costs
2007 – 2008 Financial Policy, Costs & Requirements
CASH CONTRIBUTIONS
and FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES
(An Integral Part of Training)
Registration Fee
(non-refundable, due at application) of $25.00
Program Cost
Family Payment of $2,280
(Six payments of $380 due monthly December 1, 2007 to May 1, 2008)
Program cost includes airfare from and returning to Boston.
Mandatory Fundraising Activities
This amounts to approximately $2,300 per volunteer through:
* Fruit Sale
Each volunteer will be required to sell and deliver at least 80 boxes of fruit and 15 Lb of Café Amigos coffee, and assist the chapter in receiving and distributing the fruit.
* Letter Writing
Volunteers are required to send 100 fundraising letters on behalf of AMIGOS to family, friends, and other contacts. Families provide 200 stamps plus postage for thank you notes.
The Chapter believes that if each volunteer fully participates in the fundraising activities, as described above, the Chapter will raise sufficient funds to make up the difference between the Family Payment and the actual cost of the program (approximately $4,600 per volunteer).
Financial Assistance
Scholarship (Need-Based) Aid
Partial scholarship aid, to assist families with the Family Payment, is available from the AMIGOS International Office and the Chapter based on financial need, provided the volunteer has demonstrated full participation in Chapter programs and fundraising. Applications are due on December 1, 2007.
Additional Out of Pocket Costs
(approximate):
-
Immunizations required by AMIGOS (if not covered by insurance) $200
-
In-Country personal equipment (duffle bags, boots, etc.) $200
-
In-Country spending money (8 weeks @ $25) $200
-
Approximate Additional Costs = $600
Notes
1. If a volunteer withdraws from the program before March 15, parent contributions will be refunded in full; thereafter, refunds on withdrawal will be prorated.
2. Parents are expected to actively support and assist the Chapter’s fundraising efforts and to participate in Chapter activities.
3. Families may sell extra products to defray a portion of the Family Payment, provided that the fundraising goal ($2,300 per volunteer) has been fulfilled. Many families earn a significant amount this way.
